1. Can you name any of the Christians who were in prison with Paul?

The crowd joined in the attack against Paul and Silas, and the magistrates ordered them to be stripped and beaten. After they had been severely flogged, they were thrown into prison, and the jailer was commanded to guard them carefully. (Acts 16:22,23)

My fellow prisoner Aristarchus sends you his greetings, as does Mark, the cousin of Barnabas. (You have received instructions about him; if he comes to you, welcome him.) (Col 4:10)

Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus, sends you greetings. (Phile 1:23)

(Silas, Aristarchus and Epaphras)

2. Were any females locked in prison too in the early church?

Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord’s disciples. He went to the high priest and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem. (Acts 9:1,2)

(Yes)

3. Was Paul ever unjustly locked in prison just over a favor for his enemies?

When two years had passed, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus, but because Felix wanted to grant a favor to the Jews, he left Paul in prison. (Acts 24:27)

(Yes)

4. Who was the first godly man of the NT to be put in prison?

When Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, he returned to Galilee. (Mat 4:12)

5. Do you think you deserve better treatment than these as a Christian today?

Remember the words I spoke to you: No servant is greater than his master. If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the One who sent me. (John 15:20,21)

In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, (2 Tim 3:12)

Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. (Mat 10:28)

All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. (Mat 10:22)
