40. Forgiving others who sin against you is not really an issue under “grace” and therefore not something we Christians should concern ourselves with. True or False.

Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. (Mat 6:12)

For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. (Mat 6:14,15)

Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. (Luke 6:37)

Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation. (Luke 11:4)

Then the master called the servant in. “You wicked servant,” he said, “I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to. Shouldn’t you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?” In anger his master turned him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed. This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother from your heart. (Mat 18:32-35)

(Massive doctrinal deception has been passed on to others by false teachers, who try to discount Jesus’ teachings in the gospels as being before the cross, not under grace and/or something other than relevant to Christians now. Many of the same people love to quote John 3:16 and other verses which were also given before the cross. This is a glaring indication that something is seriously wrong with their understanding.

Jesus taught the vital necessity of his followers (Christians) forgiving all others who have sinned against them so their own sins could be forgiven. That truth is of major importance for all who are serious about entering God’s kingdom.)

41. When a Christian forgives another who has sinned against him, is that particular sin forgiven, as far as God is concerned?

If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven. (John 20:23)

(Yes, but that doesn’t mean that same person who may hate you doesn’t have a multitude of other sins which will drag him/her to hell. To forgive people who sin against you is to be obedient to God and to show mercy.)

42. When a Christian refuses to forgive a person who sins against him, is he hurting himself more than that person he won’t forgive?

Then the master called the servant in. “You wicked servant,” he said, “I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to. Shouldn’t you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?” In anger his master turned him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed. This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother from your heart. (Mat 18:32-35)

(YES. Absolutely! The servant who would not forgive someone his debts became responsible once again for his own cancelled debts [forgiven sins]! Hence, this is a salvation issue.)

43. How often should you search your heart for unforgiveness against another?

And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins. (Mark 11:25)

In your anger do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent. Selah (Psa 4:4)

(We should make sure we forgive others as often as pray or go to bed. Hence, it should be a constant self-examination multiple times/day, since Christians are to pray without ceasing, for others and for our own concerns which come daily.)

44. In view of how important it is to forgive others who have sinned against us, doesn’t it make sense that our arch enemy (the devil) will remind us of past hurts and unjust evil things people have done, even many years before to try to get us in or keep us in unforgiveness?

(Yes. One of the most subtle satanic temptations is unforgiveness towards another, even one whom we may have already forgiven at some past point.)

45. It was only the Lord Jesus who taught to forgive others and it is never in any of the epistles after the cross. True or false.

Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. (Col 3:13)

(False. Paul also taught Christians to forgive others, but didn’t go into all the details that the Lord Jesus did. This is all under grace and is not legalism.)
