(EMAIL) I was enjoying your article till you started talking of so-called John Calvin's doctrine of The Preservation of the Saints. I don't think that is John Calvin's doctrine. It's a Biblical doctrine of the Lord's Himself. Otherwise how do you interpret John 10:28.
Those who profess to be Christian yet go on living in sin are Christians only in name, professors. Jesus is talking about those He knows, His sheep, who believe in Him and are indwelt by the Holy Spirit - they are the ones who do not sin in the way these professors do - in a consistent and antinomian atttitude towards sin.
John Calvin got the eternal preservation of the saints right and it is obvious that he himself wasn't a saint, as he was a murderer. Sincerely,
(RESPONSE) Greetings in Jesus’ name. ...The perseverance of the saints doctrine originally came from the devil in Gen. 3:4. Calvin was later used by the devil to spread it. So technically I must agree [it didn’t come from him].
There is no doubt Calvin taught once saved always saved. Read his comment about David when he was in adultery and murder in his commentary at Ezek 18:24 for proof.
You have referred to the following passage, so let’s take a close look at it:
John 10:27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and THEY FOLLOW ME. John 10:28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand.
John 10:29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.
Please note that the ones that will “never perish” or get “snatched” from God’s hand, according to Jesus’ teaching, are only the ones that FOLLOW HIM. Also, the Greek tense of the word “follow” in v. 27 is a CONTINUOUS TENSE. Hence, this verse does NOT allow for one to stray into wickedness and maintain their salvation as it has been misused to teach. Please remember this.
Your second paragraph is the double message sometimes given by the eternal security people to allow for wickedness and salvation at the same time. You wrote about those who have: “a consistent and antinomian attitude towards sin.” That is vague double-talk which is sending many to hell. From what you were taught and which you also wrote, you stated indirectly it takes a “consistent and antinomian attitude” to reveal an unsaved person. That is not true. You don’t realize that statement of yours allows for adultery, murder, theft, slander, lying, swindling on “occasions” and in a “non-consistent” way and salvation too! Stop this nonsense please for your own SOUL’S sake and those you love the most and are influencing. You are as bad as “David Servant” and his dribble.
It was a blessing to read that you know Calvin was a murderer and therefore not a “saint.” Amen! But you primarily believe that because of his murder of Michael Servetus. What if someone told you it was only “occasional” murder. It wasn’t “consistent” murder! Would you still stand strong in the truth about him not being a Christian (saint)? You should.
One last point about Calvin. He was spiritually darkened. He was not light and therefore could NOT have taught the Bible correctly. Hence, Calvinism is discredited on this fact too.

(EMAIL) ...I have never heard of you before, which is not surpprising, since today was the first day I have searched for Mark Driscoll... People don't want to lose anything these day, well except fat. They want money, fame and health, they want to keep in the "good books" with their friends, even their enemies. But most supremely they want to be assured of Heaven. No matter what they do, or how they act they want to be "saved".
...After all, if Calvinism wasn't written down, people like Mark Driscoll would only have the Bible and its Not in there!
Mark Driscoll is a powerful speaker who is basically right in most of his message, but his teaching on this subject will cause some to lose that which we hold on to for fear of losing.
Truly, because they had no faith they were broken off, and you have your place by reason of your faith. Do not be lifted up in pride, but have fear; For, if God did not have mercy on the natural branches, he will not have mercy on you. See then that God is good but his rules are fixed: to those who were put away he was hard, but to you he has been good, on the condition that you keep in his mercy; if not, you will be cut off as they were.
(RESPONSE) Greetings in Jesus’ name. Mark Driscoll is very popular, but very deceived. He is a smooth-talking dangerous man, especially because he is a Calvinist like Paul Washer, James White, R. C. Sproul, John MacArthur and many others. Because these people believe in once saved always saved, they are presenting a FALSE version of saving faith. To them such can never die, even if one turns to the wickedness which King David did. It is a horrible day, especially for the new convert trying to find truth and enter heaven after death....
We like Rom. 11:19-23 too. It is a good passage which refutes eternal security as do MANY others.

(EMAIL FROM CATHOLIC) Evangeilists are money grabbers...There are no poor preachers in your church. Jesus was poor and asked that his followers give up everything and follow him.
Our faith comes directly from Jesus and the Lord our God and out leadership through the first pope PETER. When did your church start? and what money grabber started it?
I do not wish to hear from you again and wish you every happiness in Christ our saviour and hope that the light of his teachings reaches your heart.
Your e-mail address will now be marked as junk and be deleted from my computer. God bless and take care of you.
(RESPONSE) Greetings in Jesus’ name.... We are discussing God’s truth.... The Vatican is loaded with money. How can that be?????
You have been wrongly taught that Catholicism came directly from Jesus. If it did, then how do you deal with all the many contradictions between what he taught and what Catholicism teaches? Things like praying to God and not repetitiously (Mt. 6:6,7 ), which refutes the Rosary invention of 1090AD as Catholics keep “babbling like pagans,” according to Jesus; Jesus’ evaluation of Mary (Lk. 11:27,28) is FAR from the fabricated Mary of Catholicism, who has been taught as “the way” to God, according to the Fatima Visions; Jesus’ plan of salvation which is FAR from infant baptism and the other Catholic sacraments, Mary, and Catholic church membership; etc. Read his salvation teachings all through the first 4 books of the New Testament, especially Lk. 18:9-14; 13:3,5; John 3:15-18; Mt. 10:37-39; Lk. 14:26-33; etc.
You desperately need to read the New Testament for yourself and change accordingly. Your precious SOUL is in the greatest possible danger -- Hell. You are hurting yourself and those you love the most by rejecting the message of the Bible. God bless you.

(EMAIL) Hello, I'm new at all this, and I don't know much about doctrines and all of that, but I have come to the conclusion that once saved always saved is probably false, despite what I've been taught all my life in the Baptist church. ...is it only continuous, willful sin that would send someone to hell? What about someone such as myself who struggles daily with unwanted blasphemous thoughts? I can barely control them... let's say I had an unwanted thought before death, before having a chance to repent.. would I go to hell, despite following Christ faithfully all of my life? If that's the case... That's not good news for someone like me.
(RESPONSE) Greetings in Jesus’ name. You are much better off to trash all you have been taught and think you know and go directly to the Bible for yourself and gather up the truth there. All sins are not the same in their effect on our souls. Some sins are greater than others (Jn. 19:11). One type is eternal (Mk. 3:29), while others are not. Another type of sin is uniquely against our bodies, while other sins are outside our bodies (1 Cor. 6:18). 1 Jn. 5:16 declares there is a sin that does not lead to death while there is a sin that leads to death. Sins such as worry (Phil. 4:6), unthankfulness (Col. 2:7, 3:15; Lk. 17:11-18) and not being completely humble and gentle (Eph. 4:2) are not included in any of the lists of sins that will send people to the lake of fire, even if they were once saved. However, other sins certainly will send any person to hell if they die unrepentant, even a person who was once saved. (See 1 Cor. 6:9,10; Rev. 21:8; Gal. 5:19-21; Eph. 5:5,6; Jude 7; Rev. 22:15; etc.).
What is going on with you regarding “unwanted thoughts” is very common. The devil gives us all tempting thoughts. That is vital to remember. Also, a thought from the devil is NOT a sin unless you act on that wicked thought. We can resist the devil. To do that means we are resisting his thoughts such as what you described. (Sometimes his thoughts are more subtle and come in the way of discouragement, etc.) The devil gives people wicked thoughts, then follows up with another thought that they have sinned. Don’t be deceived by his tricks. Remember the devil is a “liar.” Jesus was tempted in every way, yet never sinned. Hence, temptation is not a sin.
Is it possible to lose salvation over 1 sin? YES, if it is sins that lead to death. Please read this http://www.evangelicaloutreach.org/onesin.htm

(EMAIL) I've grown up in church and have even said the sinner's prayer. I felt pretty strong in my faith in high school but when I got to college I started doing sexually immoral things with one of my girlfriends. I ended up breaking up with her because I couldn't do that anymore. To be honest, I have struggled with pornography and masturbation since high school so I suppose even though I felt close to God, I was deceiving myself... as I continued in pornography, I ended up being interested in gay pornography. ... Just recently, I had sex with a female prostitute. It is so hard for me to give these sexual sins up and I feel so hopeless. I have asked God to forgive me but the temptations just seems to get stronger and stronger. I am too ashamed to tell my parents or anyone in my church. Can you offer me any advice?
(RESPONSE) Greetings in Jesus’ name. Guaranteed victory and freedom from the bondage to your addiction/s will be yours, IF you get Biblically saved. That means you must repent and place a submissive fath in JESUS (Acts 20:21). Commit to him 100%. HATE those sins which are dragging you to hell and making your life here miserable to the point where you destroy ALL porn, etc. that you have. Destroy the magazines, videos, DVDs, etc. You will also have to stop going to places of temptation and get rid of your “friends” which are helping to keep your SOUL lost. Please read these articles and answers to others who wrote in the past about porn http://www.evangelicaloutreach.org/pornaddict.htm http://www.evangelicaloutreach.org/porno2.htm

You can live holy. You can live apart from such wickedness. You can obey God, but you MUST FIGHT HARD or you will be overcome by evil. You must make SERIOUS CHANGES. You need to wash out your mind after getting saved, by reading 4 or 5 chapters of the New Testament daily. Stop watching TV which is a “lust” generator. Please read this too http://www.evangelicaloutreach.org/newconverts.htm Total freedom will come, IF you do the above. It is NOT good enough to just ask God to forgive you. You must FROM YOUR HEART turn from the wickedness you are in.
...It will take holy living and endurance to enter God’s kingdom. GOD BLESS YOU.

(EMAIL) how can you know if GOD still wants you or not, i have had a history of backsliding and have always had trouble enduring. how can i know if the LORD will still forgive me and want me back. thank you.
(RESPONSE) Greetings in Jesus’ name. If you have had a history of backsliding there is something very wrong, which needs to be changed BIG TIME! This is VERY SERIOUS. You are fighting FOR ETERNITY. First, you need to repent (turn from your idols) and commit from YOUR HEART to the Lord Jesus. Act on Lk. 9:23. Remember also that Peter botched up more than once. (EMAIL) In one of your comments you mentioned the scripture in 1 Cor 6,9,10 I believe where it talks about the many diff kinds of sinners than will not inherit the kingdom of God. From what I understand Paul was talking to believers right?
Well in that particular scripture does it ever say specifically "if you commit adultry, etc..., you will lose your eternal salvation with God"? No, it says you will not inherit the kingdom of God. Well that brings me to this point. Is it possible that these people are still eternally saved but they will not inherit the best that Heaven has to offer. They will still have eternal salvation BUT, will not be in the "upper class" of Heaven. Not to say that there will be distinct classes and that there could be any turmoil, that is impossible in Heaven, but what about those that are given power, land, the kingdom.
Maybe the best Christians, due to their works, will get the best that Heaven has to offer. Christians that have "appeared" to have fallen away might get the least in Heaven. I know there are passages that talk about how some will be called the least in Heaven. I think that is very significant.
In Matthew we read: "Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven." They are still sinners but they are going to Heaven they will just be called the least in Heaven. Can it be?
(RESPONSE) Greetings in Jesus’ name. It is a mute point to mention Paul was writing to believers. Of course, but he was making a statement of fact about who are unrighteous and will not inherit (or enter) the Kingdom of God. Really what you are asking is: Is “not inherit the kingdom of God” the same as “not enter the kingdom of God”? The answer is YES. Rather than repeat what is already written, please read our article http://www.evangelicaloutreach.org/inheritkog.htm That should answer all your questions about that.
Also, Mt. 5:19 refers to the “least” of these commandments, which 1 Cor. 6:9,10; Rev. 21:8; Eph. 5:5-7 etc. does NOT refer to. They are NOT called “sinners” there. Sinners are unsaved people, who need salvation. Read this http://www.evangelicaloutreach.org/christiansinner.htm
To enter God’s kingdom it will take holy living, which comes from faith in JESUS, and endurance to the end. Ponder Heb. 3:14. There is no eternal security.... Remember Gal. 6:8,9 is a SALVATION passage not a rewards passage. GOD BLESS YOU.

(EMAIL) I have a church that I think thus far is Biblically based which I can go to, that does not believe in Once Saved Always Saved, however, they insist that you must be Baptised in Jesus name, and I was previously baptised in the name of all three persons , Father, Son and Holy Ghost. This church believes that if you were not baptised in the name of Jesus Christ you should be rebaptised. The scriptures say both.....I am confused, Please help.
(RESPONSE) Greetings in Jesus’ name. The group you are, unfortunately, meeting with sounds like the United Pentecostals (or “Jesus Only). If it is, they also deny the Trinity doctrine to the point they insist such people are unsaved and also say one must talk in tongues to be saved! This is dangerously wrong.
But perhaps you are meeting with another crowd who is more moderate. Regardless, to try to get an exact and consistent word for word formula from Acts to water baptize a person cannot be found! See Acts 8:12 cf. 8:16. There is nothing wrong in using the words the Lord Jesus gave in Mt. 28:19.
If you were water baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost after you became a Bible-defined Christian, you do not need to be baptized again.

(RESPONSE) Greetings in Jesus’ name. Thanks for the kind words. Many think they are Christians, but have “no clue” as to what the Lord Jesus and his apostles taught about salvation, etc. They are on the road to hell, but think they are on the road to heaven. This is very sad.
May God bless and help you be a bright spiritual light in your part of the world. Acts 14:22.

(EMAIL) Thanks...I live in Hong Kong and have a maid that loves the Lord.. she’s Catholic, and talks constantly about Jesus, and only Him.. I’ll have a conversation about this with her though, and make sure it is truly 100% of her trust in Jesus, and not Mary.
I love your web site. Im taking time going through your “Trinity” section.. the information is priceless – and exactly what I needed. Keep up the good work there. God bless you guys there, and keep serving Him.
(RESPONSE) Greetings in Jesus’ name and from the USA. It is possible that your [Catholic] maid has been reading the Bible and/or listening to some sound teaching somewhere. Regardless, she aligns herself with a religious system which is NOT teaching people the truth about salvation, etc. and, therefore, is a major snare to millions of SOULS. Your maid needs to leave the Catholic Church because it is also rampant with idolatry. (It is a blessing to read you are going to talk with her about these vital issues.)
Thanks also for the kind words about our teachings on the Trinity.
