(OUR RESPONSE) Greetings in Jesus’ name.
... Here is my answer to your question and what I convey to a skeptic. (This is the longer version. You can trim it down as needed):
If we look at all the world religious leaders, which would include Mohammed, Confucius, Bahaula, Zoroaster and all the others including the Lord Jesus Christ, the one with the unique authority and superiority to give us the truth is the Lord Jesus. Why? Because he alone fulfilled Old Testament prophecies of the coming Messiah; he alone lived a perfectly sinless life and he alone rose from the grave in a body never to die again. None of the other world religious leaders even came close to these. Hence, Jesus of Nazareth has the authority and credentials to accurately inform mankind on any subject, including the accuracy and authority of the Scriptures themselves. So what did Jesus say about the Scriptures? How did he view them?
1. When Jesus was tempted by the devil he quoted Scripture saying, “It is written,” “It is written” and “It is written.” (This implies Jesus believed Scriptures were true.)
2. When Jesus was asked a trick question about the resurrection by people who didn’t believe in a resurrection (the Sadducees), he told them they were in error because they didn’t know the Scriptures or the power of God:
Jesus replied, “You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God.” (Mat 22:29)
That implies if they knew the Scriptures (and God’s power) they wouldn’t be in error.
3. When Jesus went into the Temple and flipped over the tables of the money changers he justified his own actions by quoting Scripture:
Jesus entered the temple area and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves. “It is written,” he said to them, ‘My house will be called a house of prayer,’ but you are making it a ‘den of robbers.’” (Mt 21:12,13)
Imagine that! God in the flesh justified his own actions by quoting Scripture!!!!!!! WOW!
4. When Jesus prayed to the Father he clearly believed Scripture was truth. He said:
Your word is truth. (John 17:17)
5. Jesus also taught Scripture cannot be broken (John 10:35) and heaven and earth will pass away but his words will not pass away (Mt 24:35). He also believed in a literal Jonah, Adam and Eve, flood in Noah’s day, Lot and destruction of Sodom, etc.
All of these points, and others not cited here, show that Jesus endorsed the entire Old Testament. But that is not all: He also promised the New Testament which was yet to be written. How did he do that? Jesus said the Holy Spirit would guide them (the future writers of the New Testament) into all truth (John 16:13) and remind them of what was taught (John 14:26):
But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. (John 16:13)
But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. (John 14:26)
Hence, Jesus endorsed the OT and promised the accuracy of the NT. He alone has the authority and credentials to be unerring. Therefore, anyone who would disagree with him is in error.
To add to all of that, the early Christians believed the Scriptures were inspired by the Holy Spirit when David wrote about Judas (Acts 1:16); that Moses received living words from God (Acts 7:38) and that the Scriptures in general are given for correction, doctrine, reproof and training in righteousness (2 Tim. 3:16), and that the man of God is throughly equipped for every good work with the Bible alone (2 Tim. 3:17). Paul charged Timothy to preach the written word to prevent deception, etc. (2 Tim. 4:2).
Thus, it is irrational to believe Jesus is Messiah and have a lesser view of the Scriptures than what he taught. And if one doesn’t think Jesus is Messiah it can only be because such a person never unbiasedly examined the 300 prophecies which point to Messiah’s identity. Only Jesus of Nazareth could be the Messiah. All other world religious teachers were counterfeits and deluding the people by their teachings. Jesus is Lord and every knee will bow to him and confess him as Lord one day.
Hope that helps. GOD BLESS YOU. 1 Cor. 2:9.

(EMAIL) Good work, Bro. Dan! As you told the caller and (radio) interviewer, Eternal Security teachers usually teach that you will “sin every day”. When you try to refute it, they then want to brand you as ‘holier than everyone else”. Where I live in Texas, it is a “Baptist Belt”, that is, Southern Baptist. They will always teach eternal security, even those that have left that denomination to pastor/preach in “Spirit –Filled” churches. I have several relatives who have attended So. Baptist seminaries and teach this falsehood. Thank you and God Bless you in the work! that He has set before you.

(EMAIL) Ever since I ordered masterful and importantly helpful text, “The Believer’s Conditional Security” I’ve received other excellent resources from him and Evangelical Outreach. Thank you. God bless you. I live about ____ miles from Minneapolis. Does Daniel Corner have a speaking schedule, do conferences and does he sometimes come to this area? ... Thank you very much for your ministry.

(EMAIL) Enjoy your radio interviews on Catholic teachings. Dan, have you heard about this coming together called CCT? I have been looking at this for the past week and come to find out that the Salvation Army along with a host of others belong to this. The Roman Catholics are part of this movement and that bothers me. What is one to make of it? It sounds like the end times .... Never give up.

(EMAIL) If one turns back to sin and backslides into sin to live for a season because of once saved always saved doctrine, can he return to the Lord and live? Could Judas have repented for the wrong he did or was he predestined to die lost without hope of salvation?
(OUR RESPONSE)
Greetings in JESUS’ name.
You asked two questions. Here are the answers: (1) YES a backslider can repent and return to
God to serve Him and get forgiven and become “alive again.” Please read these two articles
http://www.evangelicaloutreach.org/backslider.htm
http://www.evangelicaloutreach.org/prodigal.htm
See also James 5:19,20 and Rom. 11:19-23. The only exception is the ones like those in Heb. 6:4-6, who committed eternal sin and couldn’t be renewed again by repentance.
(2) It is not God’s will that any person perish (2 Peter 3:9 & 1 Tim. 2:4).
We believe that we are saved by grace (Eph. 2:8,9) but we can fall from grace (Gal. 5:2-4). We are justified by faith (Rom. 5:1) but our faith can become shipwrecked (1 Tim. 1:19,20) and cease to exist (Lk. 8:13; Rom. 11:19-23). We are not under the law (Rom. 6:14,15) but if you live according to the sinful nature you will die (Rom. 8:13). Paul taught against legalism (Gal. 5:3,4) but he also taught that no immoral, impure or greedy person has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God (Eph. 5:5-7). We are not saved by works (Eph. 2:8,9) but to reap eternal life and not destruction you must sow to please the Spirit and not the sinful nature (Gal. 6:8,9). God is faithful to us (1 Jn. 1:9; 1 Cor. 10:13) but we must be faithful to him to the very end of our lives to escape the lake of fire or second death (Rev. 2:10,11). God surely loves us (Jn. 3:16; Mk. 10:21; Rom. 8:35-39) but those who inherit the kingdom of God love God (Jam 2:5; 1 Cor. 2:9) and to love God means to obey his commands (Jn. 14:15; 1 Jn. 5:3). We have freedom in Christ (Gal. 5:1) but this freedom is not to indulge the sinful nature (Gal. 5:13; 1 Pet 2:16).
Please consider getting our 801 page book refuting eternal security entitled, The Believer’s Conditional Security. There is MUCH in it that can help you better understand this salvation related subject. http://www.evangelicaloutreach.org/whatsnew.htm
Remember Gal. 6:8,9 is a SALVATION passage not a rewards passage. GOD BLESS YOU.

(EMAIL) I mean no offense in asking you this question. Your article on “Salvation Plain And Simple”, does not seem to be very plain and simple to me. For example: You used Acts 16:31-32 “Believe on the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved ... you and your household. My question is regarding this particular scripture ... “what is it that I am to believe”. You make a statement to believe on Jesus and I will be saved ... but you do not tell me what (how) I am to believe on him. Please use a scripture reference(s) where a person was obviously unsaved, then declared to be saved after the Apostles visited them ... what they did. I do not believe in works of righteousness (that we have done); yet there are works done for salvation. A example of that would be repentance and baptism ....... repentance and baptism is a work to be done, because the scripture says repent and be baptized. I would just like your position to be clear in my mind. I do believe that we are to be without sin, and that was the purpose of Christ. Christ came to take AWAY the sin of the world. For us to be without sin of our own power is not possible I know (Romans 7), .... but with God all things are possible (Romans 8)
(OUR RESPONSE) Greetings in Jesus’ name.
The problem is you seem to think one must be water baptized to get forgiven, which is NOT Biblical. Please read this http://www.evangelicaloutreach.org/baptism.htm
You also apparently think Rom. 7:14-25 is supposed to be the normal Christian life and Paul as a Christian. Please read these http://www.evangelicaloutreach.org/rom7.htm
http://www.evangelicaloutreach.org/abovesin.htm
GOD BLESS YOU. Remember 1 Tim. 4:16.
