(EMAIL) I read with interest your page on Mormonism and the burning of the bosom. I am not LDS but I am struggling with which religion to join.
Many years ago, I had some personal issues and the LDS church somehow found me and handed me a copy of the Book of Mormon which I found to be very uplifting. Never before or since have I met missionaries in that way. I might believe that was some kind of sign.
I still keep being drawn to mormonism and investigation its peoples. I see many testimonies from people who have joined the LDS and from people who have quit the LDS.
When watching their videos ..., when talking about their religion, non LDS people speak very fluently and with ease. For LDS people, the majority of them that I’ve seen seem to struggle and fumble through their “testimonies”, uhming and ahhing frequently.
I also note that LDS people who join (rather than being born into the church), have similar experiences to mine - finding that they have had some personal trauma in their life, that they are spiritually vulnerable. They fast and pray and then receive word from “God” concerning the Book of Mormon when they are weak.
I also note, that besides Jesus Christ, LDS members seem to place a very significant importance upon Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon - almost on a level footing with Christ.
I think about these things, and wonder whether there is anything darker at play, whether the Devil is leading people away from Christ by using Mormonism when people are at their most vulnerable. What better way of luring people away from Christ than masquerading as a church of Jesus Christ worshiping the work of Joseph Smith.
Mind you, I’m not exactly sure I have a great relationship with God. I try to ask him all sorts of questions but I never hear anything back.
(RESPONSE) Greetings in Jesus’ name.
First and foremost is learning what does the Bible teach about salvation. After that you can know how to start a relationship with God and get your sins forgiven. At the same time it should also become apparent that Mormonism cannot be spreading the truth of God since their message regarding how to be forgiven of sins, etc. is much different from the Biblical message. In other words, the spiritual source behind the Bible is not the same source behind the Book of Mormon. That would also have to be the case since Joseph Smith Jr. was a false prophet. Please see our various articles here http://www.evangelicaloutreach.org/mormonm.htm Note the one on Joseph Smith.
Remember, the death blow to Mormonism is discrediting the Book of Mormon or showing Smith is not a prophet. (We do both in our articles.)
The real plan of salvation is repentance towards God and faith in Christ Jesus (Acts 20:21). In other words, it will take a trusting-submitting and enduring faith in JESUS for your salvation to get you into God’s kingdom. You must turn away from your sins which are dragging you to hell.
You will never really know what to believe until you carefully read through the New Testament for yourself. This is very serious and will determine your eternal destiny. Remember the Bible is FINAL AUTHORITY (2 Tim. 3:16,17).
GOD BLESS YOU.

(EMAIL) In response to your attack on Eternal Security of the Believer:
While I appreciate your enthusiasm about the scriptures, I do not see conclusive evidence in your doctrine of eternal security.
It would seem that we have 2 scriptures battling (in many circumstances scripturally). For instance, He who believes in the Son, HAS eternal life – John 3:36 and on the contrary, But he who endures till the end shall be saved – Matt 10:24. They are complete opposites, one is a present possession while the other is a future possession based on a condition. If the scripture containing the condition (Matt 10:24), takes precedence over the other scripture (John 3:36), then how are we to understand God’s Word as believable? There is no power in John 3:36, it is misleading and cannot be trusted as written.
But if we are to understand that we HAVE eternal life now, and because it is ETERNAL, that would mean that it begins at the moment of belief and never ends (otherwise it is not eternal). Then we can analyze Matt 10:24 IN LIGHT of John 3:36 and come to the conclusion that all who TRULY BELIEVE will endure, endurance is in them (not of themselves but of the Holy Spirit’s everlasting Presence in them).
All you have done is decided to look at a scripture (such as John 3:36) IN LIGHT of scriptures (such as Matt 10:24) while I have decided to look at them with the opposite preference.
We need to look at what the implications are by choosing to believe one scripture defines the other and vise versa.
How does it nullify certain truths if we look at it one way versus the other. How does it change God Himself (both ways are conflicting in the character of GOD). So on and so forth. Finally what was God’s intention by sending the Son, partial salvation? That’s as bad as partial birth abortion. God is a loving Father, the New Covenant is a permanent covenant (Hebrews 7:25 and all of chapter 8). You must understand the covenants before attempting to dissect single, individual verses.
Thank You
(RESPONSE) Greetings in Jesus’ name.
John 3:36 teaches one has (present tense) eternal life as long as he is believing (present tense) in Jesus. Mt. 10:22 teaches those already saved need to endure hatred till the end of their lives to be saved (that is, enter God’s kingdom). See also Heb. 3:14 and Rev. 2:10,11. Enduring hatred as a Christian is no guarantee. Many cannot stand up under such testings and fall away (Lk. 8:13).
Please don’t misapply the POSSESSION of an eternal thing to that eternal thing—namely eternal life. Remember eternal life was “eternal” before any Christian started to POSSESS it and it will always remain eternal even if he stops POSSESSING it, which certain can happen. For example:
See that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father. (1 John 2:24) And this is what he promised us—even eternal life. (1 John 2:25)
We believe that we are saved by grace (Eph. 2:8,9) but we can fall from grace (Gal. 5:2-4). We are justified by faith (Rom. 5:1) but our faith can become shipwrecked (1 Tim. 1:19,20) and cease to exist (Lk. 8:13; Rom. 11:19-23). We are not under the law (Rom. 6:14,15) but if you live according to the sinful nature you will die (Rom. 8:13). Paul taught against legalism (Gal. 5:3,4) but he also taught that no immoral, impure or greedy person has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God (Eph. 5:5-7). We are not saved by works (Eph. 2:8,9) but to reap eternal life and not destruction you must sow to please the Spirit and not the sinful nature (Gal. 6:8,9). God is faithful to us (1 Jn. 1:9; 1 Cor. 10:13) but we must be faithful to him to the very end of our lives to escape the lake of fire or second death (Rev. 2:10,11). God surely loves us (Jn. 3:16; Mk. 10:21; Rom. 8:35-39) but those who inherit the kingdom of God love God (Jam 2:5; 1 Cor. 2:9) and to love God means to obey his commands (Jn. 14:15; 1 Jn. 5:3). We have freedom in Christ (Gal. 5:1) but this freedom is not to indulge the sinful nature (Gal. 5:13; 1 Pet 2:16).
Please consider getting our 801 page book refuting eternal security entitled, “The Believer’s Conditional Security.” There is MUCH in it that can help you better understand this salvation related subject. http://www.evangelicaloutreach.org/whatsnew.htm
Remember Gal. 6:8,9 is a SALVATION passage not a rewards passage. GOD BLESS YOU.

(EMAIL) I really like your website and look forward to reading your book on conditional security.
... it’s hard to believe that the “lie” of eternal security is so pervasive in the Christian church now. I applaud your efforts to educate Christians.
I am an ordained ______ Army Chaplain who’s denomination teaches the possibility of Apostasy, Falling from grace. I hope your book really catches on. The Calvinists have had their way with Church doctrine and have misled many Christians.
God Bless,

(EMAIL) Thank you for sending me the email about tolerating Jezebel, dying words, Santa Claus, etc.
I particularly wanted to thank you for speaking out about Satan Claus ..... oops. I mean Santa Claus. What a lie it is!
And do you realize that Santa Claus is also omnipresent? He’s at the parade, at the mall, and on the tv. And on Christmas Eve, he’s at everyone’s house all in one night.
He is also omnipotent to the average American child—nothing is too hard for Santa.
Santa never gets any older either, does he? He just keeps right on going, year after year. Seems like a case could be made that he is eternal too.
And the throne that he sits on! Bring all the little children to see Santa. Wait in line for hours, if you have to. Santa says, “bring the little children unto me.”
Santa has his own judgment book. Just like the things written in the judgment books in the book of Revelation, Santa has his list of who is bad and who is good. And remember, Santa is the judge of the good and bad.
Just like the Bible teaches people to “believe in” Jesus, the world teaches children to “believe in” Santa. Just like the Bible teaches people to be “looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of our Great God and Savior Jesus Christ” (Titus 2:13), the world teaches children to be looking for their blessed hope and the glorious appearing of their Santa Claus.
Some of the similarities between God and Santa are so strikingly similar that it would almost seem to appear that Santa is hoping to be like the Most High! Think about that.
The saddest thing is that so many churchgoers and professing Christians teach their children that Santa “is real”. They lie to their own kids, and they justify the lies by saying it is “fun” and “tradition”. Sad, sad, sad. Where does the Bible teach the concept that it is okay to lie to kids for the sake of “fun”? It doesn’t. But what the Bible does teach is that it is the devil who is the father of lies (John 8:44).
Personally, I have ran into this battle many times with people only to hear them justify Santa with any way they can. It seems that they say they want to have Jesus and that they want to have Santa too.
Many churches have people that dress up as Santa and many have Christmas productions that include Santa because he is part of the “Christmas spirit” they say.
Well, I say it is an abomination and I’m glad to see that you do too.
Keep up the good fight.

(EMAIL) I just read “Spiritual Tragedies” and had a question about one of the scriptures. What is meant by Hebrews 6:4-6? This appears to say it is possible to sin and not be unforgiven. Thank you for any reply you can give me on this scripture.
(RESPONSE) Greetings in Jesus’ name.
Heb. 6:4-6 has really caused great concern in the hearts of many, for it teaches such people could not get forgiven by repentance! When we compare that fact to three other passages (Luke 15:24,32; Rom. 11:19-23 and James 5:19,20) we must find the missing piece of the puzzle to reconcile them all. That missing piece of the puzzle is the ones in Hebrews 6:4-6 committed eternal sin (which was needed for them to return to the synagogues). Hence, they couldn’t get forgiven through repentance unlike the others who did, including Peter who returned to God after he disowned Jesus ....
GOD BLESS YOU. Heb. 3:14.
