116. The time of the year that Israel sacrificed a lamb was Passover, the same time of the year that the Lord Jesus was sacrificed for our sins! Jesus is called our Passover Lamb:
Get rid of the old yeast that you may be a new batch without yeast—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. (1 Cor 5:7)
And Judas went to the chief priests and the officers of the temple guard and discussed with them how he might betray Jesus. They were delighted and agreed to give him money. He consented, and watched for an opportunity to hand Jesus over to them when no crowd was present. Then came the day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed. (Luke 22:4-7)
Passover lamb is just one of the many titles and names given to the Lord Jesus, signifying how primary and vital Jesus was/is for our salvation and many other things. See a more complete listing here http://www.evangelicaloutreach.org/jesustitles.htm
117. Jesus is sung to in heaven with the following words, which seem like an historical account of what he did:
And they sang a new song: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.” (Rev 5:9,10)
Please note that all overcomers will reign (with Jesus) on the earth. To get to that point, we as Christians, must first endure:
If we endure, we will also reign with him [Jesus]. If we disown him, he will also disown us; (2 Tim 2:12)
Paul essentially taught in 2 Tim. 2:12 the same as what the Lord Jesus did in Mt:10:22 and Mt. 10:33:
All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. (Mt. 10:22)
But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven. (Mat 10:33)
In other words, regarding reigning and enduring, remember this syllogism:
All who enter God’s kingdom will reign.
To reign with Jesus you must endure.
To enter God’s kingdom (get final salvation) you must endure.
Again, comparing Rev. 5:10 to 2 Tim. 2:12 will result in the same essential truth found in Mt. 10:22.
118. There are many Scriptures which set the Lord Jesus far above all other religious leaders, who ever lived or will live. Please notice these:
● Jesus is the ONLY way to the Father (John 14:6)
● Jesus is the ONLY name in which salvation is found (Acts 4:12)
● Jesus is the ONLY mediator between God and man (1 Tim. 2:5)
● Jesus is the door to heaven (John 10:9)
That is more than enough to show how essential he is, but the following Scripture actually adds to that:
And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming in a loud voice, “Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?” But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth could open the scroll or even look inside it. I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside. Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.” (Rev 5:2-5)
NOTE: The past tense of the words has triumphed. That was accomplished on the cross. So, besides everything else the Lord Jesus is the ONLY one who is worthy to open the scroll and its seven seals. Jesus is the King of kings and Lord of lords. There are none like him. That is a fact—believe it or not.
119. There are many mysteries in the Bible. One is the seven spirits of God. They are mentioned various times:
John, To the seven churches in the province of Asia: Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the seven spirits before his throne, (Rev 1:4)
To the angel of the church in Sardis write: These are the words of him who holds the seven spirits of God and the seven stars. I know your deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead. (Rev 3:1)
From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. Before the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits of God. (Rev 4:5)
Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing in the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. He had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. (Rev 5:6)
(Specific details about God’s seven spirits are not given. Maybe Isa. 11:2,3 adds more insight.)
120. Jesus receives the same worshipful treatment in Heaven that is given to the Father. To the Father and Jesus we read:
Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, singing: “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!” (Rev 5:13)
Also, in Rev. 4:10,11 we read what worship is as given to the Father:
The twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne, and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say: “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.”
Jesus received the same treatment as the Father as mentioned in Rev. 4:11, which is described as worship:
In a loud voice they sang: “Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!” (Rev. 5:12)
Hence, as in other places Jesus is worthy of our worship, which is indirect clear proof for his deity. Consequently, all who reject the deity of Christ are not true worshipers just on this basis alone. Remember also Dan. 7:27, referring to Jesus receiving worship:
Then the sovereignty, power and greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven will be handed over to the saints, the people of the Most High. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will worship and obey him.
NOTE: There is no mention anywhere in the entire Bible of Mary reigning in heaven as the Queen or being praised there in any way whatsoever. Do not be deceived—she is not nearly as important as the Catholic Church teaches.
