146. Many times I have heard 1 John 1:7 used, but never as the context shows. The context shows the fellowship is referring to fellowship with God:

This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. (1 John 1:5-7)

The fellowship with one another is man with God, not man with other people as often taught.

147. In first-century Christianity they expressed their salvation in different ways than most do today. They said they know God (1 John 2:4), were in the light (1 John 2:9), were a follower of the Way (Acts 24:14) and were in the truth (James 5:19).

NOTE: In our day, the false religion of The Way International exists and sometimes the members say they are followers of the way. Do NOT be deceived by this or any label a group places on itself. We must compare their doctrine to Scripture (2 Tim. 3:16,17).

148. Oftentimes it is hard to find a real Christian. It seems that God has Christians scattered about, which seems to be like it was at times even in first-century Christianity when the original apostles were still alive:

Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To God’s elect, strangers in the world, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia, (1 Pet 1:1)

149. Can a true Christian start to live in wickedness again, like he did before getting born again? Yes, absolutely yes:

As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” (1 Pet 1:14-16)

See also 2 Peter 2:20-22. Hence, if that happens, it is unscriptural to say such a person was never saved. The never saved answer is the sometimes response which eternal security people give to try to avoid the true identity of their wicked doctrine—a license for immorality. 150. Moses is the opposite of the rich, young ruler, who heard the truth about salvation from Jesus and rejected it to his own harm (Mk. 10:17-22). Ponder the following and get blessed:

By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a short time. (Heb. 11:24,25)

Moses, a rich young ruler himself, gave it all up to have God—a very wise move on his part. He certainly is not regretful now!
