1. Is it accurate to say that people who look at pornography are guilty of adultery?
2. How serious is unforgiveness towards another?
3. Does having a large ministry or local congregation prove that such is from God and should be supported financially or with our presence?
4. Is it possible that a false teacher could be on TV or the radio?
5. We have often heard that Christianity is not a religion but a relationship. Is this true?
6. Is it true that the controversy about the believer's security is a secondary issue and should not be mentioned for the sake of Christian unity?
7. Is there ever a time a Christian should not share the word of God with a person?
8. What is the spiritual direction of the world going to be in the future? In other words, will there be a sweeping, world-wide revival or the opposite, that is, gross spiritual darkness?
9. Is the day of miracles over?
But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell (Mt. 5:28,29).By the way, there are three ways to commit adultery. Besides mental adultery as just cited, there is adultery through the violation of the command in Exo. 20:14 and also through a marriage that is not legitimate in God's sight:
But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery (Mt. 5:32).Without a doubt, many in the modern church are adulterers, according to Scripture, and must repent or they will not inherit the kingdom of God (1 Cor. 6:9,10 cf. Rev. 21:8). ReturnI tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery (Mt. 19:9).
For example, by law a married woman is bound to her husband as long as he is alive, but if her husband dies, she is released from the law of marriage. So then, if she marries another man while her husband is still alive, she is called an adulteress. But if her husband dies, she is released from that law and is not an adulteress, even though she marries another man (Rom. 7:2,3).
2. According to Jesus, being unforgiving towards those who sin against you will stop your own sins from being forgiven:
For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins (Mt. 6:14,15).Furthermore, it is possible for Christians to lose their forgiven status before God over unforgiveness:
In anger his master turned him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed. This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother from your heart (Mt. 18:34,35).It should therefore come as no surprise that the devil will constantly tempt the offended person with this temptation to be unforgiving, reminding him of things that happened even decades ago! Guard your heart. Cast down imaginations. Resist the devil's temptations to be unforgiving and pray for those who have sinned against you. We should check for unforgiveness as often as we stand praying (Mk. 11:25). Return
3. Having a large following is what Peter said the false teachers would have:
But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves. Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute (2 Pet. 2:1,2).One must never gauge the doctrinal soundness of a congregation or ministry on its size. The only way one can correctly do this is by comparing all that is said and done to the Scriptures, which is final authority (2 Tim. 3:16,17). Though there are no perfect churches, many are teaching damnable heresies and must be avoided at all costs. Study and re-study the entire Bible, especially the New Testament as though your eternal future depends on it, for it surely does! Return
4. Not only is it possible that false teachers could be on TV or the radio, it is surely a fact that many presently are! Such teach the truth sometimes, but often mix it with damnable heresies, like eternal security. Charles Stanley, Chuck Swindoll, John MacArthur, Hank Hanegraaff and Dave Hunt are just a few of many teachers that should be avoided.
Though many Christians would never intentionally expose their beloved families to a false teacher's poison, they often do this via the radio and TV. Through such channels, false teachers actually come into one's home or car and have an uninterrupted platform to express their distorted views of God's word thereby risking the spiritual health and well-being of all who may hear their poisonous teachings. Return
5. According to James, Christianity is indeed a religion in contrast to what many have been taught:
If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless. Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world (Jam. 1:26,27).Christianity is also a relationship:
We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. The man who says, "I know him," but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him (1 Jn. 2:3,4).Hence, Christianity is both a religion and a relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ. Return
6. The controversy of the believer's security is not a secondary issue. In fact, those who openly proclaim this teaching over TV, radio and in their books, have elevated this doctrine to the gospel and/or grace, hence exalting it to foremost importance. Furthermore, they often label those who reject eternal security as heretics, legalists or cults.
We actually have a whole book of the New Testament dedicated to the very subject of eternal security teachers! It is Jude. In verses 3 and 4, Jude commands Christians to contend for the faith against those who turn grace into a license for immorality, a perfect description of the eternal security teachers of our day. Furthermore, foundational to the true gospel of grace is a conditional security:
By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain (1 Cor. 15:2).Unity with the eternal security proponents, at the expense of gospel truth, is not the kind of unity exalted in the Bible. But now he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation—if you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant (Col. 1:22,23).
Finally, the eternal security teachers are bold, aggressive and unashamed in spreading their sinister doctrine. They must be opposed and refuted for the sake of all those who have hearts for the truth. Return
7. Yes, there is actually a time when a Christian should not share the word of God with a person. Jesus taught we should not cast our pearls to swine nor give that which is holy to dogs. It could be physically dangerous to do so:
Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces (Mt. 7:6). Return8. The spiritual direction of the world, including America, is concisely stated in the following Scriptures:
Men worshiped the dragon because he had given authority to the beast, and they also worshiped the beast and asked, "Who is like the beast? Who can make war against him?" The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise his authority for forty-two months ... He was given power to make war against the saints and to conquer them. And he was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation. All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written in the book of life belonging to the Lamb that was slain from the creation of the world. He who has an ear, let him hear (Rev. 13:4,5,7-9). Return9. No, a thousand times no. The day of miracles is not over. God still performs miracles, but so does the devil! To distinguish God's miracles from the devil's, one must focus in upon the message surrounding the miracle. For example, if rosary beads are miraculously changed into another substance, because the rosary itself is unscriptural (Mt. 6:7,8), then we know the spiritual power behind that miracle is not the author of the Bible. Demons can perform miracles (Rev. 16:14). In contrast, if one is physically healed by the prayers of a believing, Bible-defined Christian, then that is in accord with Scripture and is of the power of God. Return
"... Because your sins are so many and your hostility so great, the prophet is considered a fool, the inspired man a maniac" (Hosea 9:7).
