Are You Worthy Of Jesus?

The theology of many in our day has no room for questions like Are You Worthy Of Jesus? Their version of who is a Christian has been so grossly distorted that it hardly resembles the genuine, yet multitudes have accepted it as truth. The following are Scriptures that are seldom mentioned in our apostate day regarding this:
Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me (Mt. 10:37,38).

In the same way, any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple (Lk. 14:33).

I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world (Jn. 17:14).

The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God (Gal. 5:19-21).

You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God (Jam. 4:4).

Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires (Gal. 5:24).

Yet you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes. They will walk with me, dressed in white, for they are worthy. He who overcomes will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out his name from the book of life, but will acknowledge his name before my Father and his angels (Rev. 3:4,5).

The next time the enemy of your soul tempts you
with one of the various ways to commit adultery
(Exo. 20:14; Mt. 5:28; 5:32), resist the devil and
ponder the truth cited in the following Scripture:
"But a man who commits adultery lacks judgment;
whoever does so destroys himself" (Prov. 6:32).
