Exposing The Deeds of Darkness (Eph. 5:11)

We are living at a time when doctrinal apostasy is flourishing. Many are teaching things that are spiritually deadly, yet have growing congregations and ministries. The eternal security teachers are examples of this. According to them, one doesn't have to live holy to enter Heaven since sin cannot bring a Christian to his spiritual death. The result of such teaching has been broken homes, criminal activities, suicides and more. Oftentimes, Jn. 10:28 is cited as the chief proof text for this false gospel and counterfeit grace message. Sadly, Jn. 10:27, which describes the ones who won't perish, is usually overlooked. There we learn that the Lord's sheep follow Him [continuous tense in the Greek]. Hence, these are the only ones referred to in verse 28. Friend, remember this: (1) You must live holy to enter Heaven (Heb. 12:14 cf. 1 Cor. 6:9,10; Rev. 21:8). (2) Sin can bring a righteous person to his spiritual death (Ezek. 33:13,18; Lk. 15:24,32; Rom. 8:13; Jam. 1:14-16; 5:19,20; Gal. 5:19-21; etc.). (3) The real truth is, after initial salvation a Christian is to make every effort to enter the Kingdom of God because many will not make enough effort to enter (Lk. 13:24). This would include not sharing in sins of others but keeping yourself pure (1 Tim. 5:22), keeping yourself from idols (1 Jn. 5:21) and from the spiritual pollutants of this world (Jam. 1:27). These are not outside of the true umbrella of grace in spite of what we are being taught in our day.

Do not be deceived!
