The Catholic Charismatic Renewal and
The Charismatic Catholics

Charismatic Catholics (pdf Gospel Printout)

Are Charismatic Catholics really bible-defined Christians, unlike the other more traditional Catholics? What's the truth about the Catholic Charismatic Renewal? Many non Catholics think Charismatic Catholics are Holy Spirit filled Christians, but what does the biblical evidence show? Charismatic Catholics may say "Hallelujah" and may claim to read their bibles, but they are still Catholics fundamentally, as they go to Mass and believe the foundational dogmas of Catholicism -- the pope, the Eucharist, Mary, the sacraments, etc.

"Thus Saith Mary"

I personally knew a woman, years ago, who came out of a Charismatic Catholic church. She said they were actually prophesying "Thus saith Mary" in there! That is not the only time I have heard such a statement about Charismatic Catholics. Such a practice might sound shocking but is nonetheless typical for the Catholic mentality with its fabricated Mary whom they have deified, although they deny deifying her. They also readily claim to "venerate" Mary, but deny worshiping her, yet "venerate" is a synonym for worship.

Charismatic Catholics conduct healing services where it is claimed that healings and miracles occur. Certainly, such will attract the physically sick, as well as various curious people. Those healing claims have also been enough to convince some that God is really at work among Charismatic Catholics. However, even if healing and miracles really do occur among the Charismatic Catholics, that does not mean their teachings and practices are bible-based or even that they themselves are true Christians. How could they be true Christians, since they are unaware of how to find salvation itself and are reveling, albeit unwittingly, in the sin of idolatry, a soul damning sin (Rev. 21:8)? People need to note the following scripture, spoken by the Lord Jesus:

Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!' (Mat 7:21-23)
The Charismatic Catholic experiences and activities are really the backbone of the whole ecumenical movement and unity with Pentecostal type non-Catholics in order to get them to come back under the influence of the pope. Sadly, it has worked with some and has also basically destroyed evangelical attempts to soul win Catholics to biblical salvation.

Too many ill-informed people think the Holy Spirit is moving among Charismatic Catholics. How can one know for sure and detect the true activity of the Holy Spirit? The real Holy Spirit will always act in accordance with and promote the message of the Bible, which he provided for us to read, believe and act upon today. Remember, it was holy men of God who were inspired by the Spirit of God who wrote the Bible. The message of the Bible is horribly violated by the foundational teachings of Catholicism itself, the teachings of which are also embraced by these Charismatic Catholics.

What Do Charismatic Catholics Believe?

Without question, a counterfeit "speaking in tongues" does exist among Charismatic Catholics (just as it does in Mormonism). There is another spirit just as there is another Jesus and another gospel (2 Cor. 11:4). Furthermore, Catholics believe Mary is the "spouse of the Holy Spirit". Hence, the exaltation of Mary and prophesying in her name in Charismatic Catholic circles fit the Holy Spirit in their eyes, but their beliefs and practices do not fit the reality of scripture; rather, it is the work of the "father of lies" (Jn. 8:44) in order to deceive precious souls with these counterfeit signs and wonders. Remember, the devil can come as an angel of light, and he can perform his own signs, miracles, visions and healings (2 Corinthians 11:14; 2 Thess. 2:9,10; Rev. 16:14).

Jesus is the only way to the father (Jn. 14:6); he has the only name in which salvation is found (Acts 4:12); there exists no mediator between man and God other than Jesus (1 Tim. 2:5), and no one can have eternal life without Jesus (1 John 5:11-13). Charismatic Catholics are blatantly wrong about anyone gaining salvation without a personal submissive faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Charismatic Catholics are also wrong about the real Mary of the Bible, as well as other basic truths concerning salvation itself, not to mention their various, glaring idolatries. We need to be guarded in this age of great religious deception. God bless you.
