As I began my new life in Christ I was under the influence of not one but several Calvinistic teachers whose high intellect and conservative stance on Scripture sucked me in like a cheap vacuum. However, there was more to these Bible theologians than initial impressions would tell and the Lord God was about to reveal to me what that was (Hebrews 4:12). Just because someone teaches 94% Truth and 6% error does not mean that 6% false teaching can’t condemn your soul!
It was just 2 years later that I called Dan Corner for the 1st time to compliment him on a Gospel tract refuting pre-marital sex I had found on the sidewalk. He sent me a copy of The Believer's Conditional Security and I agreed to read it, although with the impression that he was wrong and I could detail exactly where he had erred and get back to him later. Boy, did I have another thing coming....
That’s when God slowly lifted the veil from the eyes of my heart and the more I tried to prove the book wrong the more it was proving ME wrong! Gradually I began to realize that passages like 2 Corinthians 5:10 and Hebrews 9:27 refute the Calvinistic teachings of Election (also called Predestination). Then, after understanding the truth on Judgment I realized that Colossians 1:23, 2 Peter 2:20, and Ephesians 4:32 prove that FUTURE sins are NOT automatically forgiven and many people fall into unrepentant sin.
The entire 5-points of Calvinism were tumbling before me like a house of cards. Since that time God has been revealing Truth to me as I pray continually for His Holy Spirit to direct me and increase my understanding of His word. He (as well as Dan Corner) have proven to me that teachers like Dr. John MacArthur, who had taught me the New Birth so well, had simultaneously taught a false doctrine of O.S.A.S. and purposely alter Scriptural truth to support it. One such example is the 2006 re-release of his 1997 Study Bible which has 500 pages of altered doctrinal notes which deceptively introduce his constantly altering doctrines.
If you are one like me who was indoctrinated with error then ask the Lord to reveal His divine Truth to you and repent! Then you will know the true joy of a life of love and victory over sin that is found only in Christ Jesus our Lord (1 Corinthians 15:57).
