for changing the grace of God into a "license for immorality" (Jude 4) with the following statement:
"The eternal security of the believer arises out of the necessity and nature of the atonement" (The Saving Work of Christ, Grace Abounding Ministries, Inc., 1980, p. 235). Just for Robert Morey to make such an extreme statement about an unscriptural teaching, that is in reality a license for immorality, makes him worthy of our Skull and Crossbones award.
It should also be pointed out that on the very next page in his book (p. 236), Morey states there is a "difference" between the perseverance of the saints and eternal security, but then cites the Westminster Confession of Faith, which teaches the "perseverance of the faith"! One must ask, how could Morey state that "eternal security" arises out of the necessity and nature of the atonement (p. 235), and be different from the perseverance of the saints (p. 236), then afterwards cite a man-made confession as truth which teaches the perseverance of the saints (p. 237)?
Mr. Morey, I would still like to debate you (Dave Hunt, James White, John Ankerberg or Hank Hanegraaff) on the believer's security in a fair, equally-timed exchange of ideas.
