100 Biblical Names and Titles of Christ

Dan Corner

100 Títulos Y Nombres Bíblicos De Cristo

The whole Bible is filled with references to Jesus in one way or another. Beyond that, the primary message spread by the Lord Himself and his followers was to go directly to Jesus Himself, place a submissive-obedient faith and trust in him and continue [endure] to the end for salvation. It is very easy to see why we are directed by God to do this after noting the various ways the Lord Jesus is described by his many names and titles. Each refers to yet another important place or position that Jesus holds in God’s plan for man’s salvation. Please ponder how precious and preeminently important Jesus is for man’s salvation. The truth is: Jesus is the all-sufficient Savior. No other savior is needed besides Him or with Him. JESUS can be fully trusted and relied upon 100% for our personal salvation. There is no surer source of truth, for he himself is the truth and only way to God (John 14:6). Yet, as the Bible exalts Jesus from cover to cover, Roman Catholicism indirectly downplays him by their unscriptural exaltations of Mary. This is especially portrayed in Marian apparitions, pictures and statues where she is holding the baby Jesus in her arms as both wear a golden crown. Mary is the mature adult and Jesus is just the infant held and dependent on his mother’s help and strength.

Furthermore, without Scriptural backing, Catholicism also sometimes gives Mary the same exact titles which belong to Jesus alone—Life, Hope, the Way, Morningstar, etc. In fact, Roman Catholicism has given their Mary more names and titles than the Bible has for the Lord Jesus, thus reflecting her importance to them in comparison to Jesus. (Please note: Catholicism’s Mary isn’t the Mary of the Bible, but instead a sinless, queen of heaven, who has been bodily assumed there and supposedly is the life, hope, way to God, refuge and protection for multitudes. Many Catholics have even consecrated themselves to that Mary.) Hence, there are multitudes of sincere Catholics who have been innocently mislead by their own teachers and leaders, about Christianity and salvation. They are trusting in: (1) Mary or (2) Jesus and Mary (sacraments, church membership) for salvation, as they have been directed, instead of Jesus alone, as their own Bibles declare. Remember this: the Scriptures have been given to make us wise unto salvation through faith in Christ Jesus (2 Tim. 3:15-17). Therefore, even though many Catholics are sincere and devout, they are also in disobedience to Jesus’ commands and the Apostles directives regarding salvation.

The Real Christian

Jesus wants all to know who his real spiritual family is. He said of them that they put God’s word into practice, which includes having Jesus as the object of our faith for salvation. This is the foundational difference between a Catholic (as well as all other religious but unsaved people) and a Bible-defined Christian:
He replied, "My mother and brothers are those who hear God's word and put it into practice." (Luke 8:21)
For all Catholics who wisely decide to reject what they have been taught by the priests, nuns, bishops, popes, etc. and go by the eternal word of God instead, remember the following: You need to leave the Catholic church just as a Mormon needs to leave Mormonism after getting saved and a Muslim needs to leave Islam after becoming a child of God. Catholicism is not the same as Biblical Christianity. You need to gather with other true Christians, be spiritually fed and worship God in spirit and in truth. Be sure to read our important article on Vital Truths for New Converts.

May God be pleased to use this simple article to open up the spiritual eyes of many Catholics to this dangerous, deadly salvation deception before it is too late. (Please pass this important article on to your Catholic friends and relatives. Precious souls hang in the balance.) God bless you. (Be assured this article was written out of Christian love for all who want to know about Biblical salvation.)
