Does Persecution Strengthen the Church? There are some who insists that persecution does strengthen the church, but they do it without scriptural evidence that directly leads to that conclusion. In contrast, we must consider the following: Did fear of persecution strengthen Peter which caused him to disown Jesus 3 times? Moreover, in the Parable of the Sower, the second type mentioned is this:
... THEY BELIEVE FOR A WHILE, but in the time of testing they fall away. (Luke 8:13)What is "in the time of testing" when they "FALL AWAY" and STOP BELIEVING? The answer is explicitly clear by examining Jesus' explanation of that type of person, which is here:
But since he has no root, he lasts only a short time. WHEN TROUBLE OR PERSECUTION COMES BECAUSE OF THE WORD, HE QUICKLY FALLS AWAY. (Mat 13:21)That was what Jesus taught about PERSECUTION, which is a "TEST". In that case, because the new convert was not grounded, he FALLS AWAY, which is equated in that teaching to the plant "withering" or DYING:
Some fell on rock, and when it came up, the plants WITHERED because they had no moisture. (Luke 8:6)The Greek term for "withered" means: to shrivel or DRY UP, that is, the person STOPS BELIEVING. New converts need to be warned that THEY WILL BE PERSECUTED AND MUST CONTINUE IN THE FAITH TO REMAIN SAVED.
... so that no one would be unsettled by these trials. You know quite well that we were destined for them. In fact, when we were with you, WE KEPT TELLING YOU THAT WE WOULD BE PERSECUTED. And it turned out that way, as you well know. (1 Thess. 3:3,4)
Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. 2) The other two women with wings like a stork is the ONLY POSSIBLE SCRIPTURAL EVIDENCE OF FEMALE ANGELS, (IF this can even be used for such).
3) Wickedness was taken to BABYLONIA, where the prophet Daniel was deported to. He was one of the righteous trio (Ezek. 14:14; 14:20), though he lived in that sinful environment! Righteous Daniel prayed 3 times a day (Dan 6:10).
**MANY WOMEN were godly and important assets to Christianity.

(Jer 44:15-19)** That LARGE ASSEMBLY flatly refused the command from the LORD (YHWH) spoken through Jeremiah to burn incense to the pagan goddess, the "Queen of Heaven". WHY? In their minds it was to prevent famine and war. In reality, their troubles came to them because of their SINS.
Rather than REPENT and OBEY God, the devil had them thinking the remedy was their idolatrous acts with the 'Queen of heaven', that is, SIN!
That gives you a slight view of Jeremiah's race as a prophet.

For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, 'He has a demon.' The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Here is a glutton and a drunkard, A FRIEND OF TAX COLLECTORS AND "SINNERS." 'But wisdom is proved right by her actions." (Mat 11:18,19)When reading the Scriptures, consider who was speaking. In the above case, it was ENEMIES who slanderously stated the Lord Jesus was a "friend of tax collectors and sinners." It is true they said that, but the statement itself is not true.
Often the motive behind quoting the foregoing misused verse, out of context, is to make allowances for sin and worldly living with the lost and, often, to protect the 'salvation-in-sin' doctrine of eternal security. Likewise, we see the similar errant defense of OSAS by those who slander the Apostle Paul as the "worst of sinners".

Similarly, Luke wrote the Gospel of Luke and Acts for JUST ONE PERSON to read (Theophilus - Luke 1:3; Acts 1:1). Yet those two WONDERFUL NT BOOKS have similarly blessed and informed multitudes to this late hour.
**That should be VERY ENCOURAGING to all the laborers. How? Your efforts to spread the gospel and/or do a single act of Christian love could potentially HELP MANY IN ETERNITY. Hence, do not grow weary in doing good.
BTW, I once spoke to a professing Christian man who told me he was in that part of the world and actually saw Paul's prison cell. He said it was about 4 feet high meaning Paul could not even stand upright at that time!
I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked men, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary. Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love. (Rev 2:2-4)

For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people. OUTWARDLY, Absalom was superior in appearance, but INWARDLY (spiritually) he was a vile dirty wretched evil man on the road to eternal fire. [The same can hold true for women.]
BTW, Absalom had a strange end - his HAIR got caught in a low hanging limb!
Now Absalom happened to meet David's men. He was riding his mule, and as the mule went under the thick branches of a large oak, ABSALOM'S HEAD GOT CAUGHT IN THE TREE. HE WAS LEFT HANGING IN MIDAIR, while the mule he was riding kept on going. (2 Sam 18:9)
Joab said, "I'm not going to wait like this for you." So he took three javelins in his hand and plunged them into Absalom's heart while Absalom was still alive in the oak tree. And ten of Joab's armor-bearers surrounded Absalom, struck him and killed him. (2 Sam 18:14,15)Absalom's outstanding hair (physical trait) helped lead to his death!
Not everyone who is beautiful or handsome or wealthy is proud and wicked. At one point, King Saul, though a foot taller than everyone, was humble - in the beginning, but later that changed. It is a matter of the heart in the present time.

The man in question, who posted as a 'former' believer in what he called the error of death bed repentance, cited the dying thief on the cross.
**HOW can anyone ignore scripture and imagine untrue details not cited? We do not know whether or not that repentant thief heard the gospel in his life or not. We have no evidence, except we do see that dying man rebuke his partner in crime (Lk. 23:39-41), plus the crystal clear statement from Jesus to that former thief that he would go to PARADISE (Lk. 23:43)! Nothing can be clearer. How can anyone miss it? 'Death-bed repentance' is a fact; it happened.
That poster apparently wants to teach something that ignores truth. What happened with that repentant thief, who got forgiven, is TRUE AND FACTUAL, even though he may not like it.

Acts 2:38 is saying they needed to be baptized BECAUSE OF sins forgiven at repentance; then, they would receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. That is how we should understand Acts 2:38 - just like we understand this statement in our day:
'Go and take 2 aspirins for your headache.'
Meaning BECAUSE OF your headache, take 2 aspirins.
