Peter is also masculine gender and not feminine gender as petra is. The misuse of this verse has led Catholic people to wrongly think that the church was built on St. Peter, who was supposed to have been the visible head of the church and the first Pope!
From that came the invention of 'apostolic succession' with absolutely no scriptural backing - leading to many popes, who have taught and 'approved' many spiritually deadly things. For example, popes have taught Mary has a role in salvation! Clearly, that is not the real mother of Jesus. Hence, such a wrong belief about Peter from Mt. 16:18 has led to other false ideas and doctrines regarding how one finds salvation, which in turn has led to the damnation of many.

He knows our deeds, our motives - our heart (Rev. 2:2; etc.) and ONLY the "PURE IN HEART" will see God - Mt. 5:8.

The Greek term STIGMA is found in Gal. 6:17 and Rev. 13:18. In the former, it refers to the scars on Paul's body from serving Jesus, but besides 'marks' or 'scars', the same Greek word also means: TO STICK OR PRICK; A MARK INCISED OR PUNCHED FOR RECOGNITION OF OWNERSHIP.
In Rev. 13:18, STIGMA is part of the number of the beast, '666' - showing the beast's ownership of the person who takes his mark. It's similar to a cow that is branded by his owner. (BTW, "vaccination" originates from the word vaca which means cow.)
In Rev. 13:16 and 13:17 the Greek term CHARAGMA means 'mark' as well as BADGE OF SERVITUDE, thus revealing more about the mark of the beast.

DANGEROUS FALSE TEACHERS want us to think we can't be "blameless", yet scripture declares the opposite:
You must be BLAMELESS before the LORD your God. (Deut. 18:13)
Then the LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is BLAMELESS and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil." (Job 1:8)
LORD, who may dwell in your sanctuary? Who may live on your holy hill? He whose walk is BLAMELESS and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart... (Psa. 15:1,2)
The days of the BLAMELESS are known to the LORD, and their inheritance will endure forever. (Psa. 37:18)
The LORD detests men of perverse heart but he delights in those whose ways are BLAMELESS. (Prov. 11:20)
and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and BLAMELESS. (Eph. 5:27)
And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and BLAMELESS until the day of Christ, (Phil. 1:9,10)
Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become BLAMELESS and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe (Phil. 2:14,15).
You are witnesses, and so is God, of how holy, righteous and BLAMELESS we were among you who believed. (1 Thess. 2:10)

Remember the following warning:
For of this YOU CAN BE SURE: No immoral, impure or greedy person--such a man is an idolater--has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no one deceive you with EMPTY WORDS, for because of such things God's wrath comes on those who are disobedient. Therefore do not be partners with them (Eph. 5:5-7).

A godly Example and sound doctrine are vital for leaders:
Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers. All Christians, but spiritual leaders, especially, are to be walking HOLY and be SOUND IN DOCTRINE.

(Mat 3:10)All throughout the New Testament (and some in the OT), we see the gardening metaphor where people are likened unto grass (1 Pet.1:24), trees, branches and plants (Jn. 15:5; Mt. 15:13; Rom. 11:19-23; etc.,), their deeds as fruit, their heart likened unto soil (Luke 8:5-8), the Word as seed (1 Pet. 1:23; Luke 8:5; etc.), Jesus as the vine and olive tree, and God the Father as the gardener (Jn. 15). The mission field or world is the vineyard (Mt. 21:33), and the soul winner is the farmer sowing seed (Luke 8:5, Mk. 4:14, Mt. 13:4)
It is good fruit or the furnace of fire.
MANY will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand. (Dan 12:10)

(2 John 1:9)It is a mystery what John was referring to when he wrote "runs ahead". Perhaps in John's day, that phrase meant something particular which was commonly known, but in this day, is not. Such figures of speech definitely did exist as we see here:
