SOME JEWS WHO WENT AROUND DRIVING OUT EVIL SPIRITS tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who were demon-possessed. They would say, "In the name of Jesus, whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out." Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. One day the evil spirit answered them, "Jesus I know, and I know about Paul, but who are you?" Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding. (Acts 19:13-16)While the above lost people in Matthew 7:21-23 confessed Jesus as "Lord", not all do: Imams in Islam and practitioners in Hinduism likewise claim to have cast out demons. Even some Catholic priests claim to be exorcists, while the Vatican's Leading Exorcist is Gabriele Amorth, claimed a demon told him, "I am Afraid When You Use the Madonna's Name"!

IF they say a saved righteous person canNOT be a backslider, would never backslide or the like, then they are denying many scriptures consisting of specific examples of people who did indeed backslide: David, Solomon, Peter, Saul, Jeroboam, Asa, Hymenaeus, Philetus and Alexander and various other unnamed people in the NT. Such also denies the many warnings and teachings about backsliding and spiritual death.
At times, another argument the OSAS proponents make is that a truly saved person won't 'want to do such things'; such is irrelevant, as what matters is whether or not they are actually doing it - whether or not they actually yield to the temptation to sin (James 1:14 explains the process): this occasional retort is the bogus "jumping into the pool of sin vs. merely falling in".
If a righteous man turns from his righteousness and does evil, he will die for it. (Ezek 33:18)So, how did David "DIE" when in adultery and murder? He died spiritually, not physically. The same truth applies to Adam, as he lived over 900 years after he died. You must be humble and receive correction, if you are going to be saved in the end.
Finally, the abundance of popular OSAS teachers does not make that license for sin true. On the contrary, it is a fulfillment of 2 Tim. 4:3-4!
On an aside, some claim that we cannot be saved twice, which is a less obvious license for immorality, because such people also believe David, Solomon, and Peter were still saved after committing sins that lead to death.

But a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law, who was honored by all the people, stood up in the Sanhedrin and ordered that the men be put outside for a little while. Then he addressed them: "Men of Israel, consider carefully what you intend to do to these men. Some time ago Theudas appeared, claiming to be somebody, and about four hundred men rallied to him. He was killed, all his followers were dispersed, and it all came to nothing. After him, Judas the Galilean appeared in the days of the census and led a band of people in revolt. He too was killed, and all his followers were scattered. Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! FOR IF THEIR PURPOSE OR ACTIVITY IS OF HUMAN ORIGIN, IT WILL FAIL. But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God." (Acts 5:34-39)Of course, what the Apostles were doing was from God, but Gamaliel's advice was still FALSE! WHY? Consider all the false religions around us that started apart from God's will and were "of human origin," yet they became big and did not "fail": Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormonism, Seventh Day Adventism, Islam, Christian Science, etc. - and the elephant in the room - Catholicism, though many wrongly lump it in with Christianity.

But some of them became obstinate; they refused to believe and publicly maligned the Way. So Paul left them. He [Paul] took the disciples with him and HAD DISCUSSIONS daily in THE LECTURE HALL OF TYRANNUS. This went on for two years, so that all the Jews and Greeks who lived in the province of Asia heard the word of the Lord. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping. (2 Pet 2:1-3)
For the time will come when MEN WILL NOT PUT UP WITH SOUND DOCTRINE. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a GREAT NUMBER OF TEACHERS TO SAY WHAT THEIR ITCHING EARS WANT TO HEAR. They will TURN THEIR EARS AWAY FROM THE TRUTH AND TURN ASIDE TO MYTHS. (2 Tim 4:3,4)
